Janessa is twenty one years old. She is currently attending Berklee College of Music Online working toward her Bachelor's degree in Songwriting and Music Production. Janessa graduated from high school as a homeschooled student in 2015. She discovered her love for singing at the age of seven, and singing has continued to be one of her favorite hobbies. Also, at the age of seven, Janessa recognized her love for writing poetry. This, in turn, developed into a love for writing songs. She began learning the fiddle and the violin when she was eleven years old, and she began playing the guitar at the age of sixteen. In addition to playing the fiddle, violin, and guitar, Janessa also enjoys playing the viola and the mandolin.
Before she and her brother Patrick formed the group Heartstrings, Janessa performed in a few theatrical productions, and she played with several other bands. Some of her musical influences include The Isaacs, Alison Krauss, Mark O’Connor, Tommy Emmanuel, Dan Tyminski, the Talleys, and Josh Turner. Besides playing music, Janessa loves studying and learning history, teaching music, and, of course, one of her favorite past times is shopping! She is excited to see what God has in store for her future! Janessa hopes that God uses her songwriting for the up building of His kingdom. She desires to do every task as if she is doing it for the Lord. “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” (Colossians 3:23)
